OEM cd player swap, for those who want to know

my 2003 6 disk cd player was fubar'd. I purchased a used 2005 oem 6 disk player/radio/dic on ebay. The disk player was all I wanted to use. The 2005 disk player is a better build as it has metal trays for the disks compared to plastic in the 2003. But the ribbon cable attached to the cd player to the circuit board was wider than the 2003. So instead of swapping the player, I swapped the ''face'' of the console/module player/radio/dic from the 2003 to the 2005 (mine wasn't scratched up).

I had to go get it unlocked (darn theftlock). But it works! I know have a clock in my DIC, which I don't believe I had before.

Nice. Glad to hear everything works. What are you going to do with the analog clock in your gauge cluster? I think that would be a good spot for a transmission temperature gauge. Or, I suppose, you could just have two clocks.

Well, thought it worked fine, but it removed my ability to pull up the trouble codes through the onboard DIC screen. Went back to the original set up. I'm deciding if I really need a CD player.

Wanna buy my 2003 player? Works perfect and you can still get codes

Thanks, but I broke down yesterday and purchased the exact same one on ebay. Otherwise I would have taken you up on your offer. Guess I "needed" the cd player since alot of radio stations suck.
