    Check Coolant Level Warning

So I recently had my thermometer replaced on my '03 CTS and since I have gotten it back my onscreen computer tells me to check my coolant level. Now of course I do check it to find out it is just a little below the recommended line. So my question is does this have to do with my thermometer being replaced or does it really just tell me to check it when its even a little bit short?

thermostat was changed and you probably lost a little coolant.
