I guess. I hope they know I am switching after this experience to a new insurance company.
I am sure it doesn't matter to them though. I will take it to the shop with the highest estimate, and they can iron it out.

5k sounds good enough for the repair. I est. 6 to 7k... i'm guessing they are going to straighten the rear panel instead of cut and weld and then paint a new one in.

As long as you pay the deductible the rest is on them...no matter what the cost is.

    Re: Guess the Repair Cost

I got hit by a guy who had geico once. I took it to their express lane estimate place. There estimate was $1780. They said they could fix it there. I told them I wanted to take it to the shop that always does my repairs. They cut me a check right on the spot. Took it to my shop, they fixed it. Bill came to $2900. Geico paid the difference with no problems and gave me a rental.

Did i ever the post the tale my father lived thru?
He had full coverage uninsured motorist all that stuff.
A drunk driver with nothing chased my fathers truck into a ditch and killed himself in the head on crash.
My father had to sue his insurance company to get anything out of it at all.
He said the same thing - I will change insurance companies.
Now he had been an accident free driver for about 40 years and was not a youth.
They put him on a special list = No other insurance company would carry him.
Then they jacked his rates until they got there money back.

What insurance company? So that I know not to use that company.

All the insurance companies I've dealt with, Geico, Progressive, Safeco and Allstate. Never gave me that kind of problem.

In my crash that happened in 09 or 10, was with Allstate. I drove it to my own shop, about 30 miles away and in that condition. And the adjuster met me there. The surface estimate was about $8,500. He actually asked if I wanted it repaired or totaled. Because he knew it was going to be higher with the underneath damages. Well the total damages were only about a grand more.

    Re: Guess the Repair Cost

I will be switching to Nationwide after this experience. They gave me a lower rate with more coverage's and I also received a discount for where I work.

    Does anyone else have Nationwide?

    Re: Guess the Repair Cost

Nationwide has the same deal that Allstate does, as for accident forgiveness, vanishing deductible and what not. However, you have to make sure that you are the proper tier. If you are the entry level, you may or will not receive those offers. For Allstate, I believe there are 3 to 5 tiers. I am on the highest and therefore receive those offers. I pay $115 for full coverage on the 06 CTS and liability on an 05 Toyota Echo. I also have $100K/$50K per accident/injury coverage. Despite having an accident with them on the CTS, my rates have dropped each renewal.

    Re: Guess the Repair Cost

My family has used State Farm for over 30 years. I pay 260$ a month and get full coverage. Any time we've had an issue with one of our cars, they have fixed it with little to no cost to us. I think the most we ever payed was 500$. The engine in our Chevy Aveo (now the Chevy Cruze) blew up (block cracked) 4 times in a matter of two years (radiator hose was made of cheap plastic and would rupture after a while, spilling all your coolant on the road and causing your engine to over heat and start smoking in a matter of seconds). First two times it was 250$ deductible. After to that we had to pay 500$ because they wanted to total it at that point even though it had zero body damage. After the 4th time we sold it and made back the money we spent on deductibles plus a little extra. All in all each insurance company has it's horror stories. State Farm is definitely more expensive. I think for all our cars (5) it's 1500$ every 6 months.
