I replaced my rotors at 20,000 mile and they are still smooth. No marks. Still have 'em in my trunk. I am now using a set that was slotted and drilled.

I am not as technical as some of another forum members but in my limited knowledge, I believe that rotors get rough from wear and eventually wears the pads even faster than had the rotor not been rough. I have my current rotors cyro treated which allows it to not get rough from wear and therefore do not wear the pads as much. How are your pads?

I have no idea. My dad just felt the brakes sometimes makes noises when coming to a full stop. He said the rotors feel almost as bad as one of our vans, which as 80,000kms on it. The CTS only has 16,000kms. Everything is still factory.

Re: Can someone check their brakes for me?

well this is what i have noticed and i know for a fact is true.. if you get your brakes done, when they change the pads they HAVE to cut the rotors. if they cant cut em due to not meat left on it to cut they MUST change em. now some guys dont want to cut the rotors (save money, or lack of knowledge) so they just get new pads and put em on.. yes the brakes work,, but they squeek cause there is grooves on the rotors that are gettin break dust between the pads and the rotors.. if you cut em they would be smooth and the pads would rest flush to em. now when you dont cut the rotors the grooves make grooves in the pads which make the new rotors all rough and cut up over time.. i hope this answered all your questions.. i run s buisness and have many vechicles and do the brakes all the time.!

my rotors on my cady are the same way cause the previous owner did it that way... scratches and groove(roughness) are made on the rotors from lettin the break pads wear down too far and the metal run on metal..
