    Head Gasket Failure?

So after putting in a uv dye i have located where im leaking coolant from and its coming from right underneath my exhaust manifold on the driverside i have some pictures that can kind of show where the leak is located which i've circled. It is not easy trying to get a good picture of this spot and i tried to capture a pic with the uv light on so you could see the dye but that didnt work out as i had hoped it would. Does anyone know what else could be leaking from this location other than head gaskets? In the bottom picture that is where it continues to run down the side of the block, in the top picture that is where the leak is coming from.

    Re: Head Gasket Failure?

After leaving the stealership today i have found out it is not the head gaskets. My leak is the galley cover seals to the oil cooler leaking down the backside of the motor and down the side making it appear to be the head gasket. I was qouted 1022.00-1426.00, the highest price is including new oil cooler. He said its a 50/50 chance that the threads on the cooler itself could become stipped when removing the lines.

Are you much of a DIY guy? Not too sure as I don't really know anyone that well on here. If you are, I can email you complete instructions to do this. I did it last summer and only took me 2.5 hours. Longest part was actually pulling it out from between the heads. If you don't have the exact angle it's a PITA

I will be doing this myself detailed instructions would be great. The service manual I posted for everyone to use doesn't cover the oil cooler. I have a pretty good idea based of the engine diagrams but torque specs and things of that nature will definitely help me out.

When replacing the oil cooler is changing the oil filter adapter seal required or can I do it when I change my oil next?

Well finished up replacing thermostat with housing and oil cooler and it took close to 8 hrs to finish. The coolant pipe that goes into the thermostat was a pita trying to get out, until I unbolted the power steering pump pulley, came right out after that.
