2003 CTS Wipers wont shut off

PROBLEM----The wipers on my CTS wont shut off unless I pull the fuse from under the back seat...

I've googled and read everything almost on the Forums and it's looking like a Wiper Control module...

Does anyone know what one looks like? When I google it looks like a Harness...

I hear its about to the motor?

Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix it?

You need a new wiper Motor cover. Just happened to me in the fall and that was the problem. You can get them from GMpartsdirect. I think it was about $80 or so. Pretty easy to change!

A cover Blayne? When I think cover I think housing... That could mess with the electronics?

Yes! On the wiper motor, there is a black plastic cover. On the inside of the cover is the circuit board that controls the wiper motor. Those circuits get moisture and corrode. Changing JUST the cover and NOT the whole motor is the fix. And it's cheap. I just did it and its mint!!!!

Just bought one today for my 2006 CTS from one stop OEM. With shipping it came to $78.94.

Any other tips on the swap? Things to remember, avoid, or double check?

Just for a laugh I emailed by Cadillac service guy, the part is $221, and they want $152 to install it.

What is the fuse name for the wipers labeled as from the back seat?

Before you start, mark the position of the arms and the shaft with white paint or white out. When you reassemble it will save you time in aligning the wipers.

Thanks for the tips, and the part #. That is key to buying the wiper cover online at a HUGE discount over the parts stores, or caddy dealer. Replaced mine this weekend. Getting the arms off was the hardest part. Glad I had a second set of hands to help.

Re: 2003 CTS Wipers wont shut off

I put my car in for inspection last week and it came out (passed, no less) with no brake pressure and psychotic wipers. Somehow, two brake lines rusted through after the car passed inspection, but before my Mom got in the car to drive it. As for the wipers, I have no idea. I figured the brake fluid may have sprayed through the lines all over the engine compartment and freaked out the exact wrong part. I ordered the housing cover featured in this thread. Hopefully that will do it. Has anyone shot any video, perchance? If not, I will most likely shoot some -- especially if the arms are a real bear to remove.

Thank you SO MUCH for the perfect pointers in yet another thread. You guys are the best. Let's hope this does it for me.

Re: 2003 CTS Wipers wont shut off

I had this exact issue happen to my cts about 6 months ago, It came to the point that I would leave the fuse out, and if it began to rain I would put the fuse in and my wipers would be on. Pretty jacked but it did the trick for awhile. That got old quick and I ended up getting a used replacement wiper motor and installed it myself, very easy. The wipers came off, the cowl over the wiper motor secured with torx screws came out, and gave easy access to everything I needed. As a few posters mentioned before, make sure that you take quickk picture of the setup or draw a diagram. Taking 5 seconds to snap a quick picture with your phone will save you hours of pulling your hair out or having your wipers go in reverse. Good Luck!

Quick follow up here. I bought the wiper control module cover linked earlier and it did the job. Not the entire module, just the cover. No more psychotic wipers
