CTS wont stay running, BAD ECM

Hello, I have a 2004 cts and i believe the ecm to be bad. The key is stuck in the ignition and when the key is turned, it doesnt turn over. I have tried removing the harness in the fuse box or removing battery power to no avail. Also tried new battery.

Im getting this weird long beep noise in the engine compartment as well.

I found a older thread where a fellow also had a 2004 cts in which he jumped the starter wire and started it that way, but when i do that, it cranks for a second, and doesnt stay running. Sounds like a bad fuse, but i dont know where to start.

You can see the symptoms and long beep in the video below.

Also, I tried the procedure to manually release the key, but I can't seem to do what the instructions say..

There is a small hole dead center under the steering column. It has a plastic cover you need to remove. Use a straightened paper clip or other pointy object to depress the key release mechanism while turning the key to off at the same time.

As for the not starting issue, is the check engine light on with the key in the on position? Traction light on? Gas gauge at zero?

I believe the part number is 12592124 but double check with your local GM dealer.

Plenty of CTS ECUs are on ebay, starting at 40 bucks. For that price it's worth the gamble that (a) it works and (b) it can be reprogrammed for your car.
