Valve adjustment ? 's So the top area of my motor is sounding a bit rattly an I think I need a valve adjustment has any one had it done to there car? An know a ball park price on getting it done?
Re: Valve adjustment ? 's Kind of hard to adjust valves on a DOHC engine. Im thinking about doing mine too. Or at least measuring them to make sure there still in spec. It would be nice if someone has done it. Ill look it up on alldata tmr for you should atleast have the valve clearance Aren't they hydraulic lifters on these motors? Hydro lifters 99 times out of 100 don't need to be adjusted. Re: Valve adjustment ? 's Did he tell us what year, motor, mileage ? Where are those damn psychics............. Re: Valve adjustment ? 's There is no valve adjustment.....if your valve train is noisy there are deeper issues. Make sure it is not the injectors your hearing (DI injectors are very loud).
How many miles on the motor? Ever run oil low? have you always run full synthetic? (timing chain issues). Its the 3.6l 94k an as far as I know never ran low an full synthetic but iv only had the car since 87k It sounds like my lifters or retainers are loose or something I can hear it really good from the drivers side of the motor
---------- I dont know what really it is tho my honda sounded like that an I had them adjusted an the sound went away so thats what I was using for a reference
---------- Re: Valve adjustment ? 's You may have a worn follower. Remove the valve cover and with the cam lobe facing up feel each for excess play. Your also due for a timing chain replacement to avoid jumped timing. Re: Valve adjustment ? 's Re: Valve adjustment ? 's What about that purge valve... sometimes it makes quite the racket
no check engine light? Due for a timing chain replacement? Isn't the chain supposed to be fine for the life of the motor? Unless it develops slack or snaps.
