03 CTS 3.2L Serpintine Belt Failure / Tensioner - Now will not restart - Need Help

I have an 03 CTS with a 3.2L. The serpintine belt failed on the road, engine shut down of course. It was the tentioner pulley that completely locked up and broke apart it would seem. I replaced that and the belt. The engine t urns over fine. I have cleared the codes from the ECU. It just seems like it is not getting any spark. When I try to start it everything turns and it turns over normally. When I let off the starter it still goes for an extra second, just a weird thing I noticed. Also when starting the bright light gauge indictor light stays on while starting. Seems as if some of the gauge indicator lights arent behaving as they should but I am not positive on that, I didn't pay perfect attention every start but something seems out of place. Before this happened the car was running perfectly, not one issue. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them, thanks.

Make sure any sensor connections weren't damaged by the flying belt. Also check the connections to the ECM, which happens to be on the top of the engine, passenger side.

To answer you concern on the starter staying engaged. It's because the ECM knows the engine hasn't started yet. Our cars are drive by wire. There is no throttle cable from the gas pedal to the TB. And the ignition wires are 20 or 22gauge, not the typical 12.

Make sure the timing belt didn't break. The car wouldn't have shut down if only the serpentine belt broke unless you continued driving and drained the battery, but you would have overheated and noticed you didn't have power steering. I have a feeling the timing belt broke as well, I hope not for your sake but good luck.

Let me add a little to this. Once I got the computer on it, there was an error code for a bad cam sensor. I replaced it. I was told that since I did that I should reset the entire ECU. I was wondering if there is a special process or can I just unplug it for a certian ammount of time? Thanks for all your guys responses. They are helping me track this down.

Also here is one reason I do not think the timing belt broke. Now I am not AS familiar with this 3.2L but I worked a TON with a Mitsubishi motor the 4G63. Compression is so tight that if you have a timing belt break it bends all the valves. It will NOT turn over with ease as this 3.2L does, no noises like pistons hitting valves at all happening. If I am wrong and there is ample spacing for the cams to ride and not bend valves please let me know.

I am parting out the car. If anyone needs anything from it let me know.

I have a complete Eibach suspension (springs and swaybars) that I was putting on while the car was down before I found out I bent a bunch of valves. So it is all brand new.

KYB shocks and struts with 5K miles

It is the 2003 model with sunburst orange paint, light tan leather interior. I will try to list parts in the classifieds soon. Never tried to sell anything on this site so might take me a little to get all the pics and ads together. Only things gone off the car for now are headlights, radiator, radiator support, transmission cooler line, one rocker panel cover.
