    Crank position sensor oring...

    '03 CTS
    Crank position sensor oring leak.

Does anyone know the part number or dimension of the oring? I have replaced it twice without success. The crank position sensor has about 20k miles on it.

Get a GM crank sensor, the aftermarket ones are slightly different and allow the o ring to roll and tears it on installation because the sensor is different than the OE Bosch sensor.

    Re: Crank position sensor oring...

So, for the oring, does it go on the sensor after the spacer, or on top of the spacer?

From the pictures on rock auto, which aren't very clear, it seems as if the oring is installed on top of the washer/spacer.

There should be a seat for it on the sensor. The OE sensor has a collar before the o-ring to keep it from rolling it when installing the sensor where as the aftermarket ones don't. Another reason to get the OE sensor is it is cheaper than the aftermarket one I got, and the only reason I got a aftermarket sensor was it was a Sunday and the dealership was closed. I returned the aftermarket sensor the next day as a defective part, because it leaked oil like a siv.

i replaced the oring and actually put the new one around the collar instead of next to it. Minimal oil leaking so far. Gonna have to clean the area well to make sure it's not just residue.
