    Service Theft Alarm

I have looked at the threads on this subject but I have't come across a solution. My 2005 CTS was serviced this week during which the battery was changed. When I went to start the car, the service theft alarm message showed up on the DIC and the dash warning light was on. The car starts and runs normally but every time I switch on the ignition, the message appears. Do we know what the cause is? I assume it was related to the old battery dying and the new one being fitted.

    Re: Service Theft Alarm

Grangeme, I'm sorry this has been frustrating you! Your owners manual (page 3-72) gives the following information on the subject.

"'Service Theft System' message means there is a problem with the
immobilizer. See Immobilizer on page 2-19 for more
    information.

A fault has been detected in the system
which means that the system is disabled and is
not protecting the vehicle. The vehicle usually restarts,
however, you may want to take your vehicle to your
dealer before turning off the engine."

Therefore, I do recommend taking your Cadillac in to your dealer for service. And if you would like me to research further for you or schedule an appointment at your dealer on your behalf, please email me anytime at Katie_Lucille@gmexpert.com!

    Best,

    Katie
