does anyone have anything good to say about the CTS.

I have only had my CTS for a few months and I love my car. I see allot of issues and complaints about the car here. Is the CTS really that bad of a car.

I think some people just over-abuse it, then complain when it breaks.

I have no complaints about the car at all. My wife drives it more than me. She loves it.

Re: does anyone have anything good to say about the CTS.

I have had my CTS for almost 3 years years and I will tell you, for the money it costs to own this car and maintain it, you will probably not find any performance RWD Sedan that compares to a first gen CTS.

So, if you look at the first gen CTS from my prespective (especially the 3.6L variant) I see it as a RWD sedan that is as spacious as a 5 series, costs less to buy and maintain(especially second hand) than a 3 series and looks sexier and more unique in design than any comparably priced RWD sedan. In addition to that it's one comfy and decently luxurious car. And if you keep it maintained as intended ( watch your oil levels and other fluids) and stick to the maintenance schedule then you will be happy for as long as you keep it.

For the moneny you can't have a better sedan IMHO

EDIT: Oh and Agent1, I drive my CTS everyday like I stole it, I don't baby my cars, the car is there to please me not the other way around, this sedan can take a serious beating... Who knows maybe it's just my car, but I know I can't be the only one that does so, most people here drive their cars like they are in an F1 race or something, and that should be the norm for performance RWD no?

I agree, I love my car. I think it looks tougher than import luxury cars, decent horse power and will have the issues just as any other car would.

Re: does anyone have anything good to say about the CTS.

Here's the deal...you are on a forum, most people come here because they have a problem and need/want help/information. You don't see too many threads titled "My CTS Has NEVER Broke!"

All cars have problems, and forums are a meeting place for them, obviously you'll see more bad than good here.

With that said..I bought my '04 3.6 Feb. of 2010 with 46k on her, now she's sitting at just under 89k...Only thing I've done other than Mobil 1 oil changes every 5k, and diff flush at about 60k is a rear wheel bearing and I just put new pads/rotors on her all the way around, that's it.

Soon she'll get a coolant flush, transmission fluid exchange, and spark plugs.

So far nothing but maintenance items.

I beat the living crap out of my car. Stop to WOT - I've hit the electronic speed cutoff too many times to count.. I OVER MAINTAIN my car.. It's an obsession.. I think I change my oil every 2000 miles, especially with the way I drive the crap out of it..

I've had to have two minor repairs. 1 wheel bearing, and a cam shim. Other than that, i've done the rear diff, tranny drain/filter/fill, and spark plugs. Oh, and i've got 52700 miles on it.

you can program one of the driver memory buttons to tilt the driver seat up and back and the passenger seat forward, at the same time it changes the radio to the last track that was on just be sure its some james brown and have the name on the DIC say "OHHH YAAA"

lets see your honda set the mood better than that!

you can totally do what i said.
each driver button has different programmed seat positions
each driver button has different DIC welcome messages
each driver button continues the last track on the CD it was playing when that driver button was either switched or the car turned off.
the only thing it cant do is lower a disco ball. mine even has auto dimming lights...but when you put in LED's you loose the dimming, its just on or off.

Re: does anyone have anything good to say about the CTS.

I work with a bunch of teen and 20-somethings (sailors) and I'm constantly helping them buy cars - it's a calling, I guess - making sure they have all their paperwork, the numbers are right, that they're getting the right car for them, for the right price. If you don't know this, areas around military bases are the WORST for car buying, because there are so many places more than happy to rip off 18-year-old E1s and put them into a POS for a "low, low price" of $400 a month for 72 months or some nonsense. The guaranteed pay is a huge draw for sleazy lenders and dealers.

Anyway, one of the steps in the process is to have these kids search for forums on the vehicle they want to buy. Without fail, they ALWAYS come back to me thinking they're about to buy the biggest piece o' crap on the road. I have to explain to them that what they're finding tells them more, realistically, about the human condition than the automobile.

People just don't get online to gush about how great things are. As a general rule, if you eat at a restaurant that offers phenomenal food at a very reasonable price, you *might* post something on Facebook, but odds are you're not going to go and leave a positive review online somewhere else. That changes completely if you have a horrid experience - you can't WAIT to get online and blast them, to "warn" other potential customers off. That's true of restaurants, movies, video games, whatever. ESPECIALLY cars.

At any rate, if that was TL;DR for ya, what I'm getting at is that pretty much everyone here LOVES their car(s). Most of us have owned one or two prior to the CTS, and most of us can't imagine how we managed to drive around before the CTS. So take the criticisms with a grain of salt, and read between the lines, and you'll get the picture.

Re: does anyone have anything good to say about the CTS.

I LOVE my CTS. It's my second one and I have never had to do anything (other than general maintenance) to either of them. When I was shopping for my current CTS, I test drove a 05 Audi S4. I nearly fell in love with that car, but between the price and maintenance fees that would follow, it was a no brainer(it was about 7g's more). Between both my CTS', I prob put on about 55-60K in the last about 3 years. I don't abuse my car, but I also don't baby it. Certain situations call for different driving styles. I also like to get her open on certain long stretches of road I know of. It's fun. My previous car was a 5 speed VW Jetta...tons of fun to drive, but no way in hell I'd ever go back to that after driving my CTS
