I am convinced that the first generation Cadillac CTS will, in the future, be named a Milestone Automobile.
They will become collectible and much sought after.

Using an estimate of 150,000,000 automobiles on the road in the United States, fewer than one out of every 500 cars is a first generation CTS,
and only one car in 15000 is the V-8 powered CTS-V.

Both the V-6 and V-8 versions are getting scarcer by the day as they get wrecked, burnt, or parted out.

i'm a little surprised the 2nd gen isn't selling better. though i guess it's release coincided with the down trodden economy and GM's bankruptcy. and looking at SRX (not that people necessarily are cross shopping the two) sales for 2010 they are almost triple the next best sales year.

The V's to the CTS's will be like the Shelby GT 350 and GT 500's are to the first Mustangs.

The V will be the 289 mustang while the Base CTS will be the 200 6 mustang. Still collectable but not nearly as collectable as the v8's

Now your getting into something I know a little about. Ive had 5 mustangs in my lifetime and been a member of the mustang club of America and the Northern Utah Mustang owners association

    ----------

All Cadillacs are/will be collectable except maybe the Cateras and Cimarrons

Re: CTS United States Production Figures

10,200 is a large production number for a collectiable. I'm thinking they'll linger around and stay with us because I agree that it was Cadillac's (and by extension GM's) most important vehicle within the last 30 years. However, I do not expect them to appreciate to any fantastic level. If a V1 owner in 40 years can sell the car for what it was worth in 2004 (adjusted for inflation and value of dolar) I think it'll be doing pretty good, more importantly, if a V1 owner has access to resonably inexpensive fuel in 40 years and the current interstate system isn't choaked up by a global population growing at a geometric rate so said owner can acutally drive the car as it was ment to be driven, he'll be doing even better.

As for the regular CTS's, I'm thinking the vast majorty will end up in a junk yard or crusher in 20 or 30 years time.

    Well, no, not exactly

Typically, a model year is from Sept to July. The 2003 CTS was actually sold for for 1.5 years, starting in January or February of 02.

XRR, you need to add the 2.6L to the list...its a smaller displacement version of the 3.2L.
