So the other day I was cleaning my car and later that night I realized that there were swirls and small scratches on the hood. The product I used to to Dry the car was Chamois. I used mothers California soap and a mitt to clean the car. So I'm curious as to what could have caused this? And also, what do all of you recommend to clean cars with. I just need the basics.soap, maybe a microfiber towel to dry it, and a mitt. But the scratches made me question, am I not using the right products? Thanks,
I've been known to run my chamois and mitt through the washing machine between uses .
My black '07 has lots of swirls; a good polish helps somewhat .
Did you use the mitt on the wheels ?
Brake dust maybe ?
I like California Gold myself .
I've found a terry cloth towel works best for washing and I use a synthetic chamois called an absorber for drying.
Never use dish soap for washing. It is designed to remove grease and wax so it WILL remove the wax from your finish. Keeping a good coat of wax on the car will go along way preventing scratches and swirl marks
Scratches and swirls come from a tiny piece of sand or dirt trapped on your cleaning cloth.
In the future rinse your cloth frequently. Some polishes promise to remove scratches and swirl marks.
And you kids wonder why there aren't any ladies here.:mad2:
