    Oil Catch can update

I've had this installed on my 2003 CTS 3.2L since Feb 9th.

I've just checked it, today June 15th, roughly 4 months later.
The resulting video shows what I found:

All of that oil would have just burned into the engine. Catching all that oil helped the engine burn cleaner.
And no, I wouldn't reuse that oil and pour it back into the car.

And I think you 3.6/2.8 guys should consider running one in the intake box hose.

I was thinking about a catch can. I still question the need for one. Regardless, I would forget to empty the damn thing.

    Re: Oil Catch can update

If that little bit was all I got in 4 months, I can safely assume the can would be able to hold that oil for a year (most likely two) until it might need draining, assuming the same amount is caught every 4 months, etc.

    Re: Oil Catch can update

I have to agree, I think we 3.6l guys need one, too, but I cannot get a straight forward answer where to install it and how. I've been asking for years now on this topic. There are several sources for good catch cans.. Does anyone who has the 3.6l have it installed yet? I'd like to know where to put it at, I"m a bit confused. Thanks fellas.

    Re: Oil Catch can update

From what I heard, you guys seem to be having oil come into the air intake box from a hose... Run the oil catch can between that hose and the intake box... remove hose, connect to catch can, and then route another hose from catch can into intake box.

That's right, you are correct. I do have oil sometimes in that breather hose that connects to my Volant. Thank ya!

    Re: Oil Catch can update

the stock 3.6 intake came with a sort of catch can on it i think.

i should really check my catch can on my 3.2. last tie i checked it it looked like it had condensation buildup.

    Re: Oil Catch can update

Yeah Mike, check the can and see what it finds.

If I attached this on a 3.6, I think I'd check it within 2 months and see what it finds. I'm sure it would find more then what I found on the 3.2

    Re: Oil Catch can update

Od/Mike and anyone else with an oil catch can,

I'm am about to press the Buy It Now button on an oil catch can, but I'm debating on 2 different ones:

    1. either this one (the one you guys have)
Universal High Quality Aluminum Oil Catch Tank Can Red

    2. or this JDM one (free shipping, so about the same price)
JDM UNIVERSAL BILLET ALUMINUM G OIL CATCH CAN TANK RED

Any comments or concerns on the JDM can? My CTS is a 3.6L, thanks in advance!

    Re: Oil Catch can update

The fittings on the one I bought weren't what was needed. I ended up having to change them out. However, both look like they will do the job. Just make sure wherever you place it, you can drain it without an issue. Something tells me the 3.6 will require more draining.
