Re: GM XM Tuner & Wiring Harness Part #s?

On the older models there were at least two antennas in one. This was a XM thing, not a Cadillac thing. Because even older Pioneer had at least two connections. I think one was for the satellite in the sky, and the ground base antennas. I travel through NYC a few times a year, and each time I never lost my XM radio. All because of the ground base antennas they have in large rural areas.

I finally found this, was looking for it since yesterday. This link shows you the rear deck of a CTS-V, as the RIM says right on it. I of course have the base, but everything back there is the same from when I took my rear deck out. The only difference is the RIM and the XM module does not say XM radio, well at least not like this one. And also there is only one antenna wire, where as this one has two. But other than that, the two modules are in the same place.

^ Thanks, that is a little helpful to compare to this car. If only I could see that body harness wiring a little clearer. If I understand that 2nd picture, it looks like there is a separate XM wiring harness that plugs in on the passenger side?

Just found out today from a local dealer that this car supposedly has the R61 PO code, which is a credit for no XM Radio and XM NAV Traffic... *sigh* The quest continues... ;-)

i specifically told the GM parts specialist that i talked to that you said that there might have been an XM delete on this car, but he said he didn't see that

i appear to have misplaced your vin (think i might have deleted the PM you sent) - i can call back tomorrow to check on this R61 and see if pointing that out makes them sing another tune

Re: GM XM Tuner & Wiring Harness Part #s?

ok so the guy i talked to today said that the RPO r6i (that's and i not a 1) is the delete xm option
he said that they harness was the same, but that your radio was not xm compliant and that you would not be able to use the factory parts
(he might be wrong, but i wouldn't order the parts to try just to find out - plus you have to find that xm module connector end of the body harness first if you were going to try that)

he mentioned that maybe there might be a GM accessory to add xm, but it probably wouldn't work with your ipod adapter kit

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like you're up the creek

Re: GM XM Tuner & Wiring Harness Part #s?

^ Hmm, I got the impression that the radio just needs to be programmed with a Tech 2, according to:
    http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answe...mtech2prog.pdf

If someone can determine the radio part number for the XM/NAV compliant version, I can check the part # on the radio in this car. My gut says it is just a reprogramming with the Tech 2, however.

Re: GM XM Tuner & Wiring Harness Part #s?

Yes thanks, that is helpful in general, but what I really need is the part # of a NAV/XM radio to compare to this one, and pictures of the XM tuner module wiring further towards the passenger side and where it connects to the body harness...

It looks like this location might be where the XM Tuner wiring comes up from the body harness onto the rear deck -- too bad there are no adventurous souls willing to photograph the wiring path. ;-)

Yes, that is the amp, and the other part -- not sure, might be a filter to the outside to get out moisture?

Re: GM XM Tuner & Wiring Harness Part #s?

I am guessing the amp is for the bose versions only? and yeah thats a possibility for the unknown part. seems like an odd place though,i would think water might get in through there considering its in the wheel well right? at least i think thats the wheel well, i cant really tell the location of this pic lol.looks so different without the carpet >.<

Re: GM XM Tuner & Wiring Harness Part #s?

    your radio should be #19117627
i do not see another radio # for with xm (yours doesn't say w/o xm)

so you're right, tech2 programming will probably add xm

so now finding the connector end for that module will be the next step (i would guess)

Re: GM XM Tuner & Wiring Harness Part #s?

In the pic above, yes that is an amp on the left side of the pic. That is both Bose and non Bose, I'm sure it would be a different amp from the two. But nevertheless, that is an amp. As a matter of fact, the amp controls all aspects of the audio signal. Balance, fade, bass, treble and volume is done through the amp.

That mysterious "filter" is just that. All cars that I've worked on has it, and all in the wheel well. It's actually a grill face, as you can see, with a rubber flap facing outwards. What does it do? I have no idea other than to allow air flow.
