Housing gasket is leaking. Removed two bolts which mount housing to block. Appears to be a third which may go through to the block, if so it would require a large allen or torx wrench to remove. Don't want to do anything unnecssarily, but after removing the two bolts it does not want to let go. Is it time to remove third bolt or apply a little more leverage to remove housing? Anu other tips welcomed.
Larger bolt IS just a plug, torx 60. However still unable to remove with reasonable amount of effort. Still need help in determining best removal of housing.
This reply is of no use to the originator, but someone may stumble on it, like I did. Besides the two obvious bolts, you have to take that "plug" off with a 12mm hex (allen) wrench or socket. I bought a 12mm hex from Sears. After that is off, inside the oil filter adapter (which you can see with a mirror) is a bolt keepin the adapter on. It's the same 12mm size. Replace the gasket ($5 on-line or $10 at the dealer). Hope this helps the next weekend mechanic.
Thank you. I wasn't sure if it was that one. I'll have to call RA.
