This is the $120 Pre-Painted Ebay Spoiler. I'll have to rave 100% on this, seller had it painted and to my door in less then 5 days. Paint is a damn good match, spoiler is great quality. Again this one is installed with 3M tape due to the stupid quotes I got to drill my trunk but ti does come with screws to bolt it in. My opinion of 3M tape...does it work? Yes it does. I think depending on where you live it and the size of the spoiler is how well it will work...Mine is nowhere near as secure both on the car and in my head has it would be if it was bolted on. I've driven it about 200 miles in a rain storm and it's still on but on the sides of it I can push it down a tad and you can see where it didn't secure to the tape on the corners, mainly cause the force of the spoiler pushes it up on that spot and I should have had it weighed down.
For any who is going to 3M the spoiler, clean clean clean with rubbing alcohol in the area the tape will go...then clean some more. Take off any tape on the spoiler from the company and clean clean clean the underside of the wing...First with goo gone to get rid of any leftover junk and then with rubbing alcohol. Taking off the cheap tape on the spoiler, cleaning and reapplying with 3m will take you about an hour so don't get frustrated. Don't touch anything on the tape with your fingers as much as you can, you can't use latex gloves with the tape as it will stick to them so do your best. You really only have 1 shot at getting the spoiler on, if you accidentally touch it to the wing or set it in the wrong spot you will have to just about rip it off and that messes with the tape. Best bet is the test fit it before taking off the red protection strip on the 3m tape and mark it with a grease pen and then have a friend help you set it down on the exact spots. After you have it on push it down towards the back window for about 60 secs and then put a blanket or cover on the spoiler and set weights towards the rear on the corners to hold the wing down and let it sit for 12-24hrs.
Yeah, my only concern was the heat and humidity here in texas may somehow reduce the hold quality of the tape. Like I said though it if does start coming off in a few months or whatever i'll just spend the stupid amount to have it drilled onto the trunk
i have the same spoiler but i drilled thru the trunk i just dont trust tape cause it dries and sooner or later it comes apart the drilling its easy just drill top of trunk with long drill going all the way thru other side than get bigger bit to fit screws thru than plug holes with rubber plugs from hareware store and your done
My main concern was the spoiler I ordered did not come with templates. Only screw and washers. I emailed them about a template and they said they don't provide templates and to seek professional installation.
kind of a dumb question but why are you using 245 tires? that seems pretty big for a car that doesnt have that much power, dont get me wrong im not saying these are slow, just wondering why such large tires.
I was thinking the same about the tires... there is a reason my grandmas cadillac didn't come with mickey t's lol
But, regarding the 3m mounting tape... my first car had these riduculous fake hood scoop things, held on with 3m tape. After 2 years of driving the car, i finally tried to take them off, it took an insane amount of glue remover to take it off, I thought the hood was going to bend before those bit&$#s came off. I bet it will hold pretty well if you mounted it right.
