CAI - the Gaetano and GhettoMike project

here is the intake me and Gaetano made a couple days ago.
started off as doing the TonyA mod air box with a stock filter but it didnt make any sound at all. so we looked at it, looked at the cone filter in the pile of parts we had and made it fit.
used a rubber hose section left over from the 3.6L and a couple clamps. also i just wrapped some electrical tape around the seams so no dirt gets through.
i will probably look for a silicone hose to attach the filter or some pvc pipe in a few weeks but this works perfect.
personally i think it sounds great!

    looks stock

hollowed out air box on right, original on left

    the box

yes it is really in there

    filter attached

maybe im in the wrong engineering field,, i should swicth from civil to mechanic engineering.. we managed to get it done,, with mikes persistance and steady hand with the grinder lol... that airbox by far is the strongest part on the cadillac by far.. that thing did not want to come apart

good call.. and with the 217whp gain you would be a FOOL not TO BUY IT.. LoL

its actually fairly impressive for the amount it would cost to make i would say its much better than the overpriced K&N and Volant intake boxes that just hook to the stock hoses on the 3.2. for the 3.6 at least you get a little tubing ...but not much.

Yup 217 hp gain, so my 3.2L now has 442hp. We are engineers, just not certified.
I will be adding my carbon fiber wrapped wooden block next week and once I get ilmatics magic beans I figire I should be close to the 700hp mark and probably get about 60mpg (highway)
Car just needs a little but of a tune then good to go.lol

But seriously, this probably gives hp and gas mileage outcomes equilalant to the volant.

Re: CAI - the Gaetano and GhettoMike project

i think ive actually lost MPG.. been on the floor to hear the intake lol

off the line there is a little difference in power but where i notice the most is when getting on the highway, it really takes off and up to speed much faster than it did before this mod.

now with that said, the 3.6 has much more noticeable pull off the line than the 3.2. i didnt think it would have been that much of a difference but when Gaetano took me for a spin in his i was impressed.
i guess the real way to find out is to take it to the track...
yes Gaetano this is a official challenge. Kayouga here we come!!!! Molson Motorsport 1/4 mile. LoL
stock on stock with our intakes and i think we should try to be on the same size wheels if possible to make as manny variables the same as possible.

    thanks,
i really like how it looks stock under the hood but you can hear it when you step on it.. i really didnt like the whistle sound the k&n makes, but that could just be a air leak somewhere.
