    Re: Snow!!!

We just got about 4" last night north of boston and I drove around with no problem all night. The Winter mode is a great option! I have normal all seasons on and did not have a problem. Does anyones car sound louder or different when they have it in winter mode? Mine sounded funny last night.

    Re: Snow!!!

someone correct me if im wrong, but the winter mode on pre-2006 models will start you off in second gear? where as the 2006+ has the triptronic shifter and you can select on your own to start off in 2nd or 3rd in slippery conditions
so that could be why your car sounded different

    Re: Snow!!!

You are correct. 03 to 05 had the option for winter mode. Which basically ment you are starting off in 2nd gear, so there fore it's going to sound a bit louder than if it were in first.

As for 06 and later, yes you can select what gear you want. However, I think you only had the option of 1st or 2nd. You could be at a stop and select any gear, but once you select 2 or higher it will start off in 2nd only. Though I could be wrong, 3rd might be an option just seems a bit too high for me. I played around with it, but I wasn't paying attention to it. And I don't recall "feeling" a difference between 2nd and higher(3rd)

    Re: Snow!!!

We had snow too, I was stuck with the wife's pickup but I didn't go out much, just a trip to the home depot for my basement project.
My Trailblazer has no such feature but if I shift to manual 2nd gear (2) it will start in 2nd gear.
I'd actually prefer it to start in first when I use it other times of the year. I never use that feature in the snow anyway.
It is 2WD with traction control and I have never needed anything else.

    Re: Snow!!!

We got about an inch and a half in Chicago last nite. I LOVE it!!!

On a side note, does running in winter mode change the MPGs?
Not that I'm worried about it, just like to know.
I know sport mode does, I can almost WATCH my gas gauge go down when I really push it in sport mode.

Not sure, the tire is what was on the car when I bought it. I'm hoping it's all season tires, but I can't really tell the difference between tires on all the cars I have driven.

Don't think so, unless you spin your back tire for three minutes before you move anywhere

    Re: Snow!!!

It's stock on CTS Sports Package. Call a local dealer and ask for the sports grill (and make sure to tell them it's the sport grill not the V grill), they should have it for around $500. If not then look on eBay.

    Re: Snow!!!

Thanks, was this appearance package only available after a certain year? I'm still shopping around and haven't seen any '03 or '04s like this. Sorry to sort of high jack your thread here, those pictures are awesome with the snow falling.
