If you have the XM module (doesn't matter if you have nav or not, must have XM) look at the PacAudio PA11-VETTE. About $165. Replaces one (or both) of your XM bands with on-screen iPod control. Also offers an aux in with RCA jacks reachable via button 6 when the iPod band is selected. Apparently a real PITA to get to the XM module under the rear deck for installation and barely enough cable to let the iPod sit underneath the center arm rest, but is supposed to have excellent sound. Newer versions include the 5v cable required for charging the newest iPod Touch and iPhone 3GS. |

I have no need to have the playlists on the Navi and would prefer to control the music through the ipod itself.
I remember someone on here mentionting he purchased some cable for like $10 and connected it to the XM input and that was it.
Anyone recall that? |

I am doing this sometime this week using the part described on an 06. Part cost me about $40. I'll let you know how it goes. |

What about the most basic of all adapters, the PAC Audio FM modulator that inserts in the antenna path? Can't get any more basic than that, really. Even that's filled with bugs?? |

I have never used one, just what I have read on this and other forums. I know a few people though who have had them, and got rid of them for the problems. One of the most prevalent problems is that the adapter will simply disappear from the display. I beleive the only solution was to unplug it and plug it back in. I have also read where it will mess up some of the other electronics in the CTS. hvac, etc. |

Note: This does not allow you to see your iPod information on the DIC but this is not something I was worried about. I am more than fine with controling through the iPod itself. Also, if you want to be able to switch between your iPod and XM while driving you will need to purchase a 2.5mm extension cable. ($5) |

I heard nothing but heavy static and had to stop using it.
In the meantime, i borrowed a friend's Monster FM Modulator and it actually works pretty good. MUCH better than any one i've had before. |

Was easy as pie and cost me under 10 bucks. I can listen to pandora radio and everything from my droid and it sounds great. A buggy and unreliable device for over $150 just isnt worth it to me to be able to change my songs via the steering wheel. I am going to be making a custom mount for my droid soon right below my nav. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
