Hey guys I'm about to buy new tires today or tomorrow. I want something wider to give me a more aggresive look. The 245-45-17 is about 3/4 of an inch wider which I think will look damn good. It shouldn't make it stick OUT more really should it? Just be wider in the wheel well I'm hoping. Also, this size tire is cheaper on tirerack than the stock size. Is anyone else running this tire size? Or something similar to 9.64" wide? And does anyone have any pictures? Thanks
I think it will look good. Wider tires always look good, and on 7.5" wheels, you should have that much bulge. You could always go to a 245/40 to minimize that more.
Tire rack is usually $132 but on sale for $88. Discount Tire, where I bought them, usually has them for $152. So I got discount to match the $88 price plus the $50 that shipping would have cost me.
Total price with installation and disposal of old tires was $470. I think I got a pretty good deal on a good set of tires.
I will take some pics when I get them on and my car washed!
Yeah, they were about to give me the NT model with the "New Tread" patter which is amazing looking and performing, but they realized their error at the last second and I got the non NTs. The NTs are supposed to be pretty rough and noisy though compared to these, so I'd rather have these anyway.
Alright the new tires are installed, however, there was a bit of a problem and anyone with the stock 17" rims should know this.
The BFG g-Force T/A KDW (as in link above) will not fit on these rims. At least not in 245/45/17. They tried all the tires and all the rims and put 120PSI in them and the tires wouldn't seal over some "bead" they said they rarely see on wheels. They even tried a different style BFG and it wouldn't work either.
So I ended up going with the 245/45/17 in the Yokohama S-Drive, which gets great ratings online as well, I just dont like the sidewall as much because its got some texture to it, where the BFGs were completely smooth.
The S-Drives ride smooth, look pretty good and I got them for $88 a piece so great deal. I would have liked to go with an even wider tire, the guy said these rims would support up to a 275, but IDK about that. I'd like to see someone get some 265 and put some pictures up.
Overall I think the 245s look better than the 225, and would recommend getting them.
The second picture is a picture of when they tried to get the BFGs on.
weird...I installed 245/45/17 Goodyear F1 All Seasons..and they fit like a glove! They look great in that size just like yours..a LOT more aggresive looking..good choice!
He hasn't been active here since May 2013, according to his profile. And you should have zero problems running 245/45-17s instead of the stock 225/50-17s.
I have 245/45 18's and have no issues at all from what my tire supplier of over 15 years tells me, it is the largest size our cars can take without any issues
