i change battry on my cts, what i did was stupid ,i got a battry with side poles and poles on top,cut off the poles on top, didn't put any kind of protection because i didn't know better, drove the car for weeks no problem.
1 day it stopped with me while driving, and a messge came up on the display starting disable remove key, when i checked under the hood i saw where it had a little burn under the hood,i changed it to the right baattry, the only way i get the car to start is turning on the key for 10 mins 3 times, but i notice the car sometimes shut off after been driven a while, oh and sometimes it reads on the display 0% engine oil,0% transmission oil, since this had happen,
can anyone help me? |

Try removing the cables for ten min and reconnect. Reset your oil indicator by holding it down for ten seconds. You may have to reprogram the auto up windows( down then up, hold the switch up for three extra seconds) |

As to the turning off while driving, how fast are you driving when this occurs? If it turns off and you keep it in gear while driving on the highway, does it restart itself at all? Mine used to turn off for a split second only while on the highway, but would restart itself if I left it in gear, and the same message would appear. I didn't really look into it further because it seemed to have stopped... What year is your car? You may be able to find a trouble code or two in your car's computer without having to go to a dealer or autoparts store (let us know if you need help with getting the codes). Also, try typing in "starting disabled remove key" in the search box of this forum and see if you find anything, and keep us posted. |

The Passkey module sends a coded password to the ECM for fuel continue. If the ECM is not programmed to recognize the coded password it will go into theft mode and shut the engine off.
You will just have to get the car to a dealer and have them to the SPS and VTD programming procedures.
I am not sure that a battery condition like that would cause all this but... who knows?

OP...sorry for the thread jack...

txbest, once the password has been learned both modules will retain memory for fuel enable and continue even after loss of power.
You can take the ECM out and put it back in and also the VTD module with no effect.
It will give you a fault message when you restart after a power loss but on the next ignition cycle it will be fine. |

There are two programming events that must take place.
One to install the software and VIN for your specific vehicle, the other to match the ECM and VTD passwords.
If this has not been done the car will never start. |
