This does not work for me.

Pepboy search for "R3109" yielded a result with nothing that can be purchased.
GMPartsDirect search for "12177234" yielded no result.
Autozone search for "19263" yield lots of results:

tell the autozone rrep to check the oem number for a match. That's how i got mine.

They will be looking in the misc relay area for the part.

Re: How to: change the outlets l from being on all the time, to being on with the key

Hey All, I just wanted to say that I have an 06 STS 1SG. I recently put another amp and subs in my car with the Bose system. needless to say I looked for an amp turn on lead for quite awhile to no avail. Finally I figured I would use the power point in the back seat and change the fuse over. I found the fuse trick doesn't work in my car. Put the relay in and found that the ground was missing on the coil side. I grounded it with a jumper and found it works, but is still battery direct. After trying to take the fuse block apart to jump it underneath to avoid a mess of wiring on top, I found the the panel is a sandwich if metal traces much like a circuit board. Total waste of time. So I put it all back together and just ran a jumper wire from the normally open side of the ignition relay to the dead terminal of the fuse for the front outlet as I wanted that to shut off with the car as well. Works well!

Thanks for sharing this tip! Picked up a 2003 CTS last night and that was one of the things I didn't like! Such a no brainer way of being able to customize a vehicle to each user, surprised more manufactures have not done it too!

In case you leave something plugged into one of the sockets, it doesn't drain your battery.

Page 3-24 of my 2004 owners manual explains the whole process. It should be in all the years.

2007 cts luxury package. Switched and doesn't work. Relay and switched, doesn't work. I understand this thread is probably dead but did anyone ever figure anything out?

I would love to know too. I have 2006 CTS with luxury package, and I too tried switching the fuse position and added the relay, and it no workie (no power to outlets at all in that position).

Re: How to: change the outlets l from being on all the time, to being on with the key

I have the same problem: outlet works with the fuse in one position, but not in the other position (with engine running or key off). Or sometimes the outlet is dead in either position. (This issue exists for both outlets.) So I removed the fuse (for the 50th time), wire-brushed the terminals, and sprayed them with electrical contact cleaner. Inserted fuse, had power in one position, but not the other. Both outlets are working for now. I quit while I was ahead.
PS- during the diagnostic process, I started the engine, removed the fuse, tested the fuse box contacts with a properly-set voltmeter, and got no readings. Ideas?
