vandalism....sooo getting sick of this!!!

couple weeks ago someone took my caddy valve caps right out of my driveway at night, not a big deal but not happy about it. since then i have been parking in the garage.

today, sometime around 6-8pm (still somewhat light out) someone cut my passenger side front brake hose and slashed my driver side back tire.

i didnt even notice at first, i live 1 block from the highway, started it up and drove off,brakes felt a little soft but still stopped ok and i actually told my gf that and i just figured my pads were getting low. otherwise car seemed fine till i hit 80km/hr it started shaking like crazy. so i pulled off and started looking all over, put my hand on the innner sidewall of the tire and brake fluid all over. i couldnt figure out why the car was shaking though. the front end looked fine, at first i thought the tie rod was going.

called caa towing and the towtruck driver looked at it said yup cut line, went to put the dolly on the back and said hey your tire is slashed too. i guess since im on 20s with low pros it didnt affect the handling much and it was on the back as well. rim looks like it is fine and dont see any damage from driving on it. i went about 5km from my house.

this is getting out of hand, i live in a fairly nice area that had a low crime rate untill last year. im really considering getting a less flashy car like a silver traiblazer ss or something like that...

Oh gosh that is awful! I am so glad you and your girlfriend weren't hurt. People these days are just mean. I don't understand it one bit

Looks like it's time for you to buy a cheap security cam for your house. And you also have to walk around your house and take care of some weak spots too. That is' pretty scary that these MOFO mess with your brake line and tires.

I hope you rep0rted it to the police. Cutting brake lines could have devastating consequences. Worst case scenario you could have caused a highway pile up and multiple deaths. It maybe seem like vandalism to the morons that did it but that is a serious crime IMO.

That is unbelieveable. That cut brake line indicates to me that the perp knows you and really wants to get back at you. Ex-gf??? Normal vandalism does not involve cutting brake lines.

Motion activated flood lights and a surveillance system. We've got the Explorer, CTS, and LS outside. Not taking any chances. I've caught 2 people try to see if the LS and CTS were unlocked. Both times I ran outside and chased them down the street. They won't be coming back.

Put up movement switched lights around your car. It does scare off initially. At least you notice the light when someone approaches your house too.

damn ghettomike, that sucks. that is definitely somebody that knows you though, cause for somebody just to randomly pick your car and cut the brake line and slash a tire is pretty extreme for petty vandalism. but i agree with mjs0202, that is more than vandalism...

I don't have any x gfs that are mad at me and know where I live, I recently moved.and I've been with the same girl for over 4 years.
We are getting night vision cameras installed all around my house, neighbour nextdoor sells them and is going to hook me up.
Guy across the street is installing 3 on his house.
No one is mad at me that I know of.
My dad is making a police report today and I am going to report it to my lawyer after I get more info and find out If there was anyone on the street witness anyone around.

Why is the guy across the street installing cameras too? Is it because of what happened to your car, or did something happen to him as well? Basically what I am asking is, are you the only one that something like this has happened to in your neighborhood?

He has a corner lot and is worried about his daughters playing in the yard, due to it being a corner lot he legally can only have a 3 foot fence not a 6 foot.
Also there has been a few cars broken into this summer and about 1 year ago a van got stolen.
We had a neighbourhood meeting with the police chief and the mayor because nothing like this has happened before, this was one of the safest areas in mississauga.

getting stolen from you or property getting damaged makes you feel so angry. And frustrated, because you cannot unleash that anger on the responsible person.

Is there any sort of shield I can put on the brake lines?
Like a metal sleve that makes it harder to slash?
I was thinking maybe kevlar wrap them?

Even though there may be no reason you can think of for someone to be mad at you, there are haters EVERYWHERE. There is a very good chance that someone is just hating on you because of your car, your girl, or just because.

Cutting your brake lines is by no means vandalism. It is an attempt on you and your girlfriends life. You both could have been killed. You were going 80 KM/H. What would have happened if you had to stop fast? What would have happened if your girlfriend took your car that day? You are VERY lucky that nothing happened.

I would make the police report so it is on file and stress the fact that you could have been killed.

Then I would continue with the security camera install, and def install floodlights. Do you have an aftermarket alarm? If so turn or get someone to turn the sensitivity on the sensor up so it goes off if somebody even touches it. It may be annoying but you will know if someone messes with your shit.

If you dont already have one I would get some firepower to keep in your house. then keep an eye out on your car and if you ever see anyone out there go out side firepower in hand and smack the shit out of em with it and hold them till the cops get there. Or at least scare them. You have the right to protect your property. And with the police report basically that someone tried to kill you you have proof that your actions are warranted.

This is nothing to play around with.

About 5 years ago I had someone try to get into my LS430. They tried to pry the door open like the stupid f*%$^ they are. Me and my roommate set up a camera and put a small tv on the floor next to out entertainment system so we could see our cars at all times. About a week later we saw someone walk into our yard then kept walking like he was scoping it out. So we waited up and watched. About 30 mins later two guys came back threw a rock and smashed the passenger window. While my girlfriend called 911 me and my roommate ran outside bat and firepower in hand. As soon as they saw us one screamed bat like a little girl, they're faces turned white as a ghost, and they both ran. We scared the crap out of them. and no one ever tried to mess with our car again.

The cops came (30 mins later) and told us were were stupid but legally right to protect our property. They processed the car for prints one again and actually found a whole hand print on the window/door frame. Two weeks later they called me and asked me to come do a photo lineup. I went down there and there were the two dumbasses.

Vandalism is one thing. Its easy to key a car, slash tires, or bust a window. But when you cut someones brake lines its a different story.
