CTS Has problems starting sometimes

Hello all my 03 CTS, has been going through the fix me up stage. My car would not start, i thought it was the starter going out but it's trying to turn over. I took it to O'Rilley's and they said it's the battery. I replaced the battery, it started right up no problems. Well a couple days later same problem, i went and got eveything tested again they said everything tested fine(alternator, battery). Could this be my fuel pump going bad? I had to start the car twice by putting quick start in my engine.

Re: CTS Has problems starting sometimes

Odds are 99% that it's the Crank Position Sensor. 03's and 04's had that problem. Do a search on CPS. You can do it yourself, it's about $70.

The CPS is under the car located near the oil filter, you need a torx socket(female)to remove it. The connector is on the center of the fire wall near the top.

BTW, what type of battery did you put in the car? I had the same problem and did the same thing you did and I installed a 600CCA battery, well that created a new problem because the car wouldn't crank when it was hot. I needed a battery that is 800 CCA or higher. So once I got the right battery and the CPS changed, the car has been perfect.
