Is there anyway to read check engine light w/o scan tool?

This is my first post here on the forum...

I'm just curious if there is anyway to read the CEL(check engine light) codes without a scan tool?

On some GM vehicles, there is a series of buttons on the DIC that you can press to read the codes on OBDII and OBDI systems...

Is there anyway to bring up the codes on the DIC of a 2003 Cadillac CTS 3.2 V6 auto?

the 2003 CTS is the only CTS you can pull the codes from the DIC
