| Re: CTS Sunroof water drainage I spend a couple hours last week cleaning out my sunroof drains because water had overflowed and seeped into the pillars. This in turn caused water to leak from my pillar and leave a small lake on my passenger floor during a day of heavy rain.
Needless to say, after reading through the forums I determined the drains were probably clogged. There is a small hole in both the front left and right corner of the sunroof. They drain to holes that are located by the front door hinges. These are easy to find by simply opening the door.
First, I determined which drain was clogged by using an air compressor to direct air down the hole in the sunroof. I was able to feel the air coming out one of the holes by the hinges, but not the other. Depending on the seriousness of the clog, a minute or so of compressed air may have you set. This was not the case for mine. I used a piece of galvanized wire (some people have recommended trimmer wire) and fed it through the hole in the sunroof until it would not go any further. Note, it is not possible to feed it all the way through to come out the hole by the hinges as there is something blocking its path.
After I did that, I repeated the compressed air test and I could now feel the air coming out the hinge hole in the previous clogged drain. I also had some mud come out which may have been the problem in the first place. How mud gets up there I don't know.
Hope this helps.
