Exhaust drone

I've been searching for a while and have yet to come up with a straight answer. Does anyone know which exhaust system or set up has the least or no drone. Im in the market for an exhaust but i don't want anything to loud or with little or no drone.

Re: Exhaust drone

Corsa advertises that their exhaust doesn't drone. I will find out on my own in a week when the exhaust I bought comes in and I install the exhaust on my STS-V.
I had magnaflows on my V6 Taurus SHO. They droned and they were also raspy. I added two bullet style Magnaflows to cut out the rasp, but still got some drone.

Re: Exhaust drone

Here is a clip of my 1991 SHO with stage 1 cams, custom headers, custom y-pipe, custom mandrel bent 2.5" cat back, two 2.5" bullet style Magnaflows in line, split in the rear with Magnaflows on each side. The exhaust is still pretty loud when I rev the engine. The mic was 10 ft behind the car. The engine was already fully warmed up when I started the car. I think it really hard to get a good sound from a V-6. I don't remember how high I reved the engine in the clip.

This clip I slowly raised the rpm to about 4000 then floored it to about 7500rpm

The Corsa for the STS-V is due to arrive Monday. Hopefully I will have it installed Tuesday. I am hoping that the exhaust will about as quiet inside the car and sound more aggressive outside the car.

Re: Exhaust drone

One more factor on how loud your exhaust can be is determined by the diameter of the exhaust pipe. When I initially installed Magnaflows I just replaced the stock mufflers with the Magnaflows. I thought this set up ended up sounding the best. The exhaust became much more louder when I installed the 2.5" cat back leaving the Magnaflows on. Then I added the two bullet style mufflers to reduce the raspyness and lower the volume. Before I added the two mufflers, I was setting off car alarms in parking building and on the street.

Re: Exhaust drone

I think im going to go with this set up:
2 of these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BOR-40981/
and 2 of these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HSH-12412400/
Im all so adding 2 1/4 inch stainless steel piping to replace the stock piping.
if it doesn't have the sound i want then i will add an X pipe. Let me know what you guys think. Like i said i want some sound but not much after all it is a lux sport car and not a honda civic.
