Actually the volume knob still works. I have to say I'm pretty handy and have installed sound systems in previous cars, but this looked complicated and confusing and i didnt want to attemp it. Dan from DTS Performace really came through. Im amazed on how it came out.

Tell him Will with the black 05 CTS sent you. I plan on using him again to add a remote starter/alarm. He's worth every penny. He's honest and takes pride in his work. He does a reall thorough and clean job.

I might try it myself someday. since I have the luxury of being able to stick the radio from my V in the CTS while working on the CTS radio

You don't need any harnesses to install an aftermarket head unit whilst retaining: DIC; steering wheel controls; steering Wheel Volume; and Onstar.

Everyone i found a guy in New York (Long Island) who hooked up an aftermarket navigation while retainig steering wheel functions onstar and chimes as well as keeping the dic. He took out my stock cd player and put the navigation in there. This is the job you may have seen on the forum already. I've been researching for a while and the best i got was from a dealer who said he can relocate the stock non bose unit to the trunk and put the navigation in the spot were the oem unit was. I really didnt want that as i wanted to see the dic. Then finally as i was preparing to make arrangements with the dealer ( and thank god the guy told me he was going on vacation and to call him back to make arrangements in a week) dan from dts performance emailed me saying he can do the job and he does it to tons of bmw's already. Hes's also replaced my stock sub and amp. The guys name is Dan and if any wants this done just mention Will with the black CTS. Here's his web site: http://http://www.dtsperformanceinc.com/

What kind of trim kit did you use for the radio. Im doing the same thing but with a Jvc kwnx7000 it is requiring more trimming!

I have the stock trim kit. The installer had to modify it of course.

i just noticed the right seek knob and scan/clear buttons on the right arent illuminated???? was it like that since the modd... cuz mine doesnt glow either anymore on those right buttons
