Sold my jeep, is this a good plan?

So I just sold my 2006 Jeep Wrangler because I couldn't afford the gas mileage and it's reliability was absolute shit (even with only 29k miles). Even with the lift and new tires our economy sucks to the point that I only got 13k for it. I've always liked the looks of the CTS, but I could never afford one. Now, they're more in my ball park. I'm finding lots of 03's and 04's for around 10k with only like 50,000 miles. I've heard CTS's aren't very reliable and their repair bills are very expensive, so what I want to do is buy one of said CTS's and spend the remaining 2-3k on an aftermarket warranty. Thoughts, opinions, comments?

I'm attaching a pic of my jeep. you were a heep but you will be missed

Re: Sold my jeep, is this a good plan?

I would price the options and go from there. Aftermarket warranties are great if you have a big problem, but a majority of issues are small-medium issues and aren't covered. I would put the remaining money in savings for repairs.

Hopefully someone here has more experience and can give you examples. Maybe you can do a hybrid approach and get a cheap aftermarket and still have a little left over for any major repairs.

Were you still paying on the Jeep? If not I would have kept it! However, I sold my 07 Jeep for an 04 CTS with low miles and am enjoying it!!!

Re: Sold my jeep, is this a good plan?

CTS have average reliability. Buying any used car is a crap shoot. You could buy a Camry today, and own a Camry with a blown engine tomorrow.

If you like the CTS, go for it, and hope for the best. I doubt you will find many people here trying to talk you out of it.

Re: Sold my jeep, is this a good plan?

my 03 has been fairly good to me. couple little issues but most were fixed for cheap. the cts is a great car to drive, it was just designed really well especially for highways.
