Is CTS hard to repair? Considering GM troubles?

Remove this ad
Hello guys, I am doing little bit of a research on CTS 2005 3.6L Auto; and found CTS to be exactly what I am looking for; yet, from one forum I got a tip that CTS running low on off market parts, so its hard to repair, and expensive as well.

So, How big of a factor is this? Is it impossible to find parts if my CTS breaks down? What is your take on the situation?

Your feedbacks are very well appreciated, and thanks in advance for your feedbacks..

it just depends on what part you are looking for, but no it isnt to hard to find parts though.

what about maintenance cost? Is it expensive compared to other cars?

For instance, Will it take $30 oil change, or does it require high grade $100 oil change? Also, Are parts expensive to repair? or can it take cheaper parts from other Gm products?

Re: Is CTS hard to repair? Considering GM troubles?

If you're looking for a car that's cheap to operate a CTS is not for you. One serious electrical mishap can cost $1000+ to fix especially considering the tooling and expertise required. Oil changes are one thing and security system troubles, check engine lights, and ABS failures are another. The price of used CTSs is coming down and the price of parts is going up.

Re: Is CTS hard to repair? Considering GM troubles?

It is the joys of owning an American car. If your not up for spending money to keep a CTS running you should look at a Honda, they do not give problems usually. They are decently built cars, and do not give a crap load of problems like they use to. You might get a good one, you might get a bad one. It is things like this that give a car a personality. My major problems have just been a transmission replacement so far. If you get one you will enjoy it.
