It's even possible in certain cases that the non GM part is better than the GM part. Depends on the supplier, the spec they build to, and how well they inspect their end product.

My stock tensioners were making noise at only 60K, put no-name new ones on and still quiet. And by the way I got Goodyear belts from ROCKAUTO for 6 bucks a piece, and they look better than the stock belts.

Everyone is making a big deal about me parroting the old Mr Goodwrench commercial, and That 70's Show episode 2 "Eric's Birthday" where Red tells Eric that he'll get a genuine Delco radio for his Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser for his birthday. "Genuine GM parts for your genuine GM car, Eric"

In support of your words. In the boxes Hengst, Donaldson and AС delco. For 3 filters I paid $ 130. America, Europe and Asia))))
I could get it all from Knecht Mahle for $ 30. Millionaire-it's me!))

Donaldson makes a lot of air filters & intakes for GM & also cyclonic systems for diesels & off-road heavy equipment.
The OEM intake on my Chevy 1/2 ton is a Donaldson.

My wife used to work for fram and they also made Pennzoil filters. Which were generally a cheaper brand. But the standards they had to make the penz ones were actually stricter than the standards for the fram ones.

BTW, as we all know, the AC in AC/Delco stands for Albert Champion, and we also know what his brother is famous for.

Yes and AC was it's own separate company that was bought out by GM. I think AC-Delco filters are actually made by Purolator

And, Kids, there is a partnership called Delco-Remy, that makes alternators, starters & many more auto electric parts.

Did anybody actually think that GM makes all of its own parts ? The auto industry doesn't work that way.
All cars are assembled from parts made by outside sources. The ignition coils are made by Bosch but packaged by AC/Delco.

I want my car to remain as original as possible. So I want my replacement parts to match the original when its feasible. It might be in a museum one day.

I've already survived one heart attack and I have 100% blockage in my heart. I won't be alive then; I'm just predicting the future.
