    Pioneer AVIC-F700BT Nav - 2006 CTS

Has anyone installed the pioneer AVIC-F700BT in the CTS. I want to add a nav system and don;t need a high end top of the range unit. All I really need is iPod connectivity and a basic navigation system.

If anyone has add this unit or one similar how easy is it to retain the existing computer and steering wheel controls etc.

    Thanks

    Re: Pioneer AVIC-F700BT Nav - 2006 CTS

just bought it, i rather like it, just because of built in blue tooth, cheap ipod adapter, and voice control...

i've gotten as far as cutting out my centre console much like in the faqs by darkwingfrog. I am trying to avoid complications with the gmos, so i'm deciding wether to use the preouts and just tap into the L and R +/- or run brand new wires into the back?

also what the shit is a vss cable? and how nessecary is it?

Not looking for "opinions" on the unit, just its compatibility with the CTS's existing systems/controls.

I just need a simple NAV, iPod compatibility, and bluetooth.

Boot times don't worry me, not going to get lost backing off my drive. As for the glitches that is what firmware upgrades are for.

All I need to know now is its compatibility with the CTS.

    10/29/08 ---New free firmware update

This firmware update (version 2.0) contains important performance improvements relating to, among other things:

    Boot-up time
Bluetooth connectivity (including certain Blackberry models)
    iPod Touch (v2.0) compatibility
    Touch screen response
    Display brightness
    SD and USB media playback.

Please visit our website for more information on how to obtain this NEW free update, which can be accessed at the following link:

    http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/avicfseriesupdate2

BTW - There was a firmware update in October that fixed most of the early issues with this unit. I am not looking for perfection, and for under $400 with the iPod cable its a good buy.

    Re: Pioneer AVIC-F700BT Nav - 2006 CTS

Surely someone has feedback on integrating a Nav with the existing DIC. I have read of other people getting most functionality hooked up. Just want feedback on the feasibility, especially keeping all the DIC functions like tire pressure sensors etc.

mjs those questions for keeping the dic are answered in the cadillacfaqs.

As for wiring the deck, what i'm doing is, running all new wires for the speakers, and living without door chimes.

Having seen two units booting alongside one another with identical profiles APART from the firmware, I don't need to assume you don't know what your talking about. You are expressing opinions about a unit, and I have read reviews and watched videos of other peoples positive opinions.

Once again, I don't need or want your opinion on the unit. Feedback on the wiring would be appreciated though. OR you could suggest an alternative in the same price bracket.

Thanks. I was looking at the Eclipse as well. The Dual XDVDN8290 is in the same price range as well but I can't find many reviews.

Does anyone have instructions for wiring an after market Nav/Stereo into the existing set up?
