05 Cadillac CTS jerking noise

hey all, i have a 2005 cadillac cts 3.6L with 98 km. the past two days i have a problem occuring, while driving on the highway when i go between 100km/h-120, my car starts jerking and its geting worse everytime. anyone have any idea what it could be? Also around 40km/h it feels like the gear takes awhile to change because rpm goes up, but it doesnt jerk. when i break i get a noise that sounds like somethings loose, it also happens when turning left at intersections. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

you might have the same problem some of these other guys on here are having with the misfires...although, you stated that it does it when you turn left at intersections, i dont even know where to begin with that one. maybe it is the misfires and it just so happens to be a coincident that it misfires when you turn left...

Hello and When you say "jerking", do you mean the steering or more of a lurching from the transmission not shifting appropriately?

i get liek a whining noise and feels like something is loose when i accelerate. and it feels like i have loss of power. today the engine light flashed a couple times, but it only happened once all day.

have you changed out your spark plugs recently? or had any work done to it? have you put any engine treatment stuff? or have you gotten gas from a place you normally dont?

i put 94 octane gas, because thats the only gas they had left, and other gas stations were all out. i haven't gotten any work done, i bought the car 3 months ago, just an oil change.

check your oil and start a log for an oil consumption test. the symptoms you describe sound similar to an issue I had. my car had its engine replaced at 48,000 miles for OIL CONSUMPTION... 2 qts every 1000 miles or so.. right around 3000 miles after an oil change I would start to lose power on acceleration and the engine would make a some real interesting sounds. I would check the oil and I would be out 4 to 5 qts........................................

the supposed cause........ leaky rings!

if the check engine blinked, read the code and you'll surely get a missfire on cyl * or something like that. Without code, its only speculation.

newton, sorry for your old engine. If the problem were the rings, did you notice blue smoke coming from the exhaust?

i made an appointment at the cadillac dealer, i hope its not something major.

so i went to the dealer today and the problem was very oil level. shouldnt there be a light or message show up for low oil level? oil life monitor still said 78%. i didn't really check since i bought the car 3 months ago from the dealer. however they found 2 other problems but not linked with this jerking problem. front right tie rod and rear right tie rod seal. their charging $700.

do you guys think its a good idea i get that done now? i'm thinking of selling the car in may because im leaving for school in the states.

i would go to a local mechanic and see if they could do it for cheaper, cause obviously you dont have a warranty anymore.

how many quart where you missing when you say you were low on oil level?

To answer your question, NO...there is no "low oil" indicator. You just need to check your oil level periodically, like each time you fill up or something.
