Gutting V Exhaust on 3.6 Smog Questions

Hey all, I live in CA and as we all know they are extremely strict on smog violations here. I have a V Exhaust on my 2006 3.6 now, and am looking to get a little better of an exhaust note out of it. I was told that removing 75%-100% off the fiberglass could have some negative smog implications? Is this true? Does the fiberglass have anything to do with the smog system? I cant imagine it does but since there are people much wiser than I on here i figured this is the best place to come with this question. Thanks

removing the sound deadining fiberglass will not effect emissions. it will make the exhaust sound obnoxious.
