Want Do I look for in a CTS???

Remove this ad
Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I don't own a Cadillac yet but am in the market for a CTS. We wanted a rear-wheel drive car and we were thinking a Chrysler 300. Took a little test drive. Then we drove a CTS. Big mistake. Chrysler is OUT of the picture....

What are some of the things I should look for when shopping? Good things and bad things, etc.....

I don't want a "V", so I'm thinking a a 3.6. Would a 2.8 be okay?? I've only driving the 3.6 and it was nice.

Anyhow, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Want Do I look for in a CTS???

You want low miles, a lot of options, and a newer year. Stay away from 2003-2004. You would be okay with a 2.8L, but there are many more 3.6L available.

My 3.6L 04 runs like a dream. Go for lots of options. Sport/luxury pack is key. Dont get a 2.8 unless you have a vagina!! OHHHHH!!!!

Re: Want Do I look for in a CTS???

definitely look for a 05 or newer...the 03-04's are nice, i personally drive an 03, but they are definitely very finiky like somebody else already mentioned...but they sure do ride and perform nicely when they are running right...

definitely make sure you get as many options as you can, because you will enjoy it more in the end...i have a 3.2L and that is enough engine, but i would definitely go for the 3.6L if i was doing it all over again...

Re: Want Do I look for in a CTS???

true. gas mileage is about the same for all. Top Gear did a test to show fuel consumption has alot to do with driving manners. BMW M3 v. Toyota Prius. lol. driving at the same speed around the track for X-amount of miles, the M# got 19 mi per gal the prius got 17.

Re: Want Do I look for in a CTS???

My trunk has trouble opening by itself, but once open, it stays open. I really don't have the willpower to fix it. It's not really a problem though.

Re: Want Do I look for in a CTS???

I noticed a little differential noise in one of the cars we test drove.

Thanks to all for your input. I'll continue checking this post of more info as we continue our quest to find a nice car. Here in Tucson we don't have a real wide selection but we're not that far from Phoenix and we've even looked a little on SoCal. After New Years we'll get serious and hopefully be driving a CTS soon.

Thanks again,
Van
