I live in Chicago and after a couple of light snows already, I realise that my Michelin Pilot's are not getting it done. I would rather go with all season tires so I could just drive on them all year because of the cost of having to buy both, winter and summer tires.
What is a good moderately priced all season that would be good for my 2005 CTS? I was looking at Yokahama Avid W4S and Goodyear Eagle GT's, which I can get for about 120 each.
Thanks. |

The Blizzak's had awesome ratings in the snow. I think I wilkl be able to get by with the GY Eagle GT's. |

Since i can remember I always had all season tires, but since i got these i will never drive another winter without proper winter tires. It just makes so much difference - they are worth every penny, with only negative being the noise they make on a wet pavement. |

I drove 2 years in a CTS with all seasons. One year was on RSAs and it wasnt too bad. The next was on Yokohama Avids and it was downright scary and dangerous. I will never EVER go back to all seasons. Snow tires rule the winter and dedicated high end performance tires rule the summer! Last year I couldn even get around in an inch or two on the Yokos. Then I went to Blizzaks and got around in 9+ inches no problem at all. I even live on a VERY steep hill and never had a problem going up the hill. Quote:

Eat me!
Ill be in Ft Myers for a week in January. I spend at least one week every winter there. It is a nice getaway. Holler at me when you have 100 degrees and 100% humidity in the summer while Im enjoying 80 degrees. |

Ok ok, so it rains. I still don't remember when I ever had to keep an extra set of wheels and tires in the garage for the rainy season. Thanks for playing, try again!!! |

I have seen days in January get to 90 with 90% humidity in Ft.Myers. I love Florida but you couldnt pay me to go there in the summer. I also hate super hot weather unless Im in the lake or ocean. |

I have one more recommendation for snow tires- Mastercraft Glacier Grip II- I have these on my CTS for the winter and in snow, they are great. They aren't performance type tires, but the price can't be beat (I think I paid ~ $80 each at tires-easy.com). For regular driving, they are a little loud (not like the all season tires), but nothing terrible.
By the way Nick, I always loved how your CTS looks. You did a really outstanding job on it- whoever buys it is getting a really nice car. |

R's which are pure winter tires. They are performing well - good traction on ice and snow, quiet at highway speed. Nokian also makes all-season tires, I think they are WR. Worth checking out. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
