What Hid kit do I need?

Remove this ad
I have an 03 CTS which I believe already has HIDs, but probably 4300k. I want a more brighter white, thinking 6000k. I believe they are HIDs because they don't have that amber look like the the headlight bulb. Am I correct on assuming this? If I am correct then am I able to buy a D1C bulb at 6000k and plug it in and be happy with it or do I need to get a HID kit? I am confused on the two products. I see one is a kit and one is bulb only but for $5 a piece would these do? Or no because they do not have them in D1C?

Also, I noticed that my headlamp housing has some built up condensation and scratches on it. Anything that can be done about this. Please point me in the right direction guys. Been searching for answers and just keep asking myself more questions.

Re: What Hid kit do I need?

4300k is pure white and brighter then 6000k. The 6000k will have approximately 5% blue tint and will not put out as much luminous light as the 4300k.

You want to tell if low beams are HID? Turn on low and high beams and look to see if the high beams look yellowish when compared to the lows. If so, you probably have HID. You can swap out bulbs for different color, but remember the higher the number = less light output and more color (which is just for show).

eta: and any HID bulb for $5 a piece is . We have a HID vendor here that sells all components here with good customer service and warranty. You'll get what you pay for.
