Re: Favorite Exhaust

Can someone, in the process of answering the above question, explain what the hell a catback system is? I can buy an X Pipe, Mufflers, Tips, and Cats for like $300-400. A catback system is basically that stuff but with piping. Why does it cost $1200??? It doesn't make sense to me..

Re: Favorite Exhaust

cat back exhaust system means everything from the cats back, it's really that simple.
You know where your cats end, all the piping from the end of the cats to your tips is a cat back exhaust system.
That is why it's more expensive then just mufflers.

So it doesn't even include new cats? All it includes is like the piping, mufflers, and tips???? I can buy those parts from magnaflow individually for $200!!! Why would anyone pay $1,200???

Re: Favorite Exhaust

the higher priced cat backs are usually made of stainless steel, which don't rust and usually have a lifetime warranty. borla and corsa would have a nicer sound to them over magnaflow.
just stainless steel piping alone would probably cost almost 200 bucks.

Re: Favorite Exhaust

I know.
Imagine if we had a tunning parts maker like Lorinson or Brabus is for Mercedes?
Their parts cost an arm and a leg.

Re: Favorite Exhaust

then is that prefab, or you have to do all the bending yourself? i see the labour running several hundered dollar more for tube bending ect.
magnaflow makes me think of f150 and dodge ram trucks. but i'm sure they sound nice with a good resonator, not so sure about an xpipe and magnaflo mufflers. might not sound like a cadillac anymore, or might sound like one that needs new mufflers.

Re: Favorite Exhaust

Well I just got 2 Magnaflow mufflers and it just sound deep. So deep actually that on certain RPMs my whole interior shakes. Whether that's a good thing, I am not sure.

Re: Favorite Exhaust

If want a good sound but not to loud and very little drone then go with Dynamax Super Turbo mufflers with a good set of 7 inch long tips. You can do the whole thing for around 300 dollars and still get 30% better flow.
