Question in regards to OEM navigation unlock

Remove this ad
hey guys,

Was speaking to my dealer earlier today in regards to unlocking the CTS navigation system that I am waiting to be delivered.

Ebay seller says it's "unlocked and ready to go" which I find hard to believe since it would activate theftlock once I have installed it? Correct?

Dealer also mentioned that I will need the VIN of the car that it was removed from...is this the case? I have no idea how the theftlock works.

Please advise, thanks.

Re: Question in regards to OEM navigation unlock

You won't need the VIN of the car it came from. Their Tech-II unit will be able to clear it and reprogram it with your car's VIN.

Re: Question in regards to OEM navigation unlock

If the replacement unit has already been unlocked before shipping it is plug and play. After you install the unit and turn on power for the first time it will go look for the car's VIN# and automatically install it in the correct memory location. Everytime you start it up after that it will check automatically to make sure the numbers match.

Hmm, that is probably more accurate.

Thank you, yeah it came unlocked. Poped right in and lit right up, no issues.
