HID Install

Hey everyone,

Just wondering on different install techniques for HID kits.

I know many of you drilled a hole in the dust cap and put the aftermarket ballast in the empty open box where the HID ballast goes underneath the headlight.

I installed my whole kit inside the headlight housing so there was no trace of a kit from the outside of the headlight. I stuck the ballast with the adhesive tape on the inside wall of the housing next to the low beam bulb.

I am about to get a new kit and I'm thinking of installing the ballast in the empty spot where the stock ballast would go and drilling through the bottom of the headlight and using the grommet there where the wires go through.

Any thoughts?

The only reason I wouldn't put the ballast inside the housing is heat. Those ballasts generate a decent amount of heat and I wouldn't want anything getting too hot in there, especially in the summer.

Since there is plenty of room outside the headlight, what's the point?

I placed my ballasts around the bumper mount area by drilling.
Look it up I think my pictures are still there.
Heat might be a problem for you.
