Question Your next car, what will it be?

To all the CTS drivers out there: What will your next ride be? Here is a little of that I am thinking as far as a new car.

My 2007 CTS was my first NEW car and my first ever Cadillac. I love it and I have no regrets. I love Cadillac, the name, how it rolls off the tounge, the prestige, the look, the feel, all the way down to the emblem.

But I have a problem and that problem is a need for POWER. The CTS just does not have enough for me. If I could afford it, my next ride would no doubt be a 2009 CTS-V. Unfortunately that is not an option in my world.

This leads me to a few options...

First would be a used CTS-V. That would be enough power to make me happy, but leads to the other problem. I want NEW, there is nothing like that NEW car smell and feel. Not to mention warranty and all the rest of the perks of buying new.

The other option I have is to move away from Cadillac, even though it breaks my heart. I would love to stay with Cadillac but the new base CTS with ~304HP is not gonna cut it and the 2009 CTS-V is out of the question price wise (hope I hit lotto soon and dont have to worry about this any more).

Now I am down to just a few choices. My new car has to meet these personal prerequisites:

    -American
    -NEW
    -Around the 400 pony range
    -No more then $40,000

After searching and looking for something that meets my needs I have come down to this car: 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP. Even tho the car is not out yet and does not have a MSRP suggested, I think it will still be below the $40k mark.

Final line: 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP

What do you guys think? I'm interested in seeing what you all think.

Actually, by choosing the Pontiac G8, you are right on the mark. The G8 was first in my mind even before I finished reading the title of your thread. I read a review recently and can tell you that it is the most HP bang for the buck of any offering out there. If the quality is there - should be as it is a GM Australian design from Halden that is modified for the American market, then it will be a big hit. Hope the interior can match or surpass the exterior and performance.

As a 4 door performance sedan, for the price, it will be hard to beat.

Re: Your next car, what will it be?

I'm moving to a Lexus for my next car, had enough of the CTS with all the trouble replacing parts. Let me list them

    Driver wheel bearing
    Pass wheel bearing
    Rear driver side window motor
    Thermostat
3 Rear third brake lights (What a ****ed up idea Cadillac "NEON")
    AM/FM/Cass/CD Radio...FM went bad
Change Onstar to digital..not cadillacs fault
3 sensors that controlled my car starting
2 other sensors that who knows what they did
Soundproofing the firewall for noise...Cadillac did that for free
Rear driver floor got soaked from plugged up air condition drain line...another cadillac brain storm
Oh yea Headlight burned out ..That was a joy to replace..Another cadillac brain storm Idea
and don't even start with the interior hepa filter replacement..what were they thinking $$$$$$$$$$
Now I have a rear door sensor that says its not closed.. F*** It hit the clear button thats $300.00 to fix it

Owned Toyota's all my life never had a problem...No lets buy a Cadillac the cream of the crop someone slap me next time I even mention Cadillac when looking for a car

Lexus/Toyota is the way to go

I have a 94 Camry I gave my daughter 200,000 miles and still going strong

ALL THIS HAPPENED AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT..03 CADILLAC CTS I HAVE LEARNED NEVER AGAIN BUY A FIRST YEAR MODEL CAR

QOUTE.....Anyone can afford to buy a Cadillac...just can't afford the upkeep when things go wrong..lol

So is that what you wanted to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The idea of owning the Two door CTS has me going from 6 to midnite!
Price will be high 30's low 40's for the V6 and Yes i know there will be a V version available but $60Grand for a two door rocket? Im already livin' beyond my means like most americans these days.

Rumor has it that the G8 won't even survive long enough for a second production cycle. Here's the article:

But all i have ever seen, or heard of is the automatic. But other than that as i have always said, the G8 GXP will be my first new car i ever own..... i dont care what it takes or whos soul i have to sell to get it. ITs absolutely beauriful, and i really like the inside, alot more than the GTO even though they are similar.

I really like the look of the Lexus IS line. Sporty and sleek.

But I like to buy American, even if I am only 24 with not much experience in these matters.

Re: Your next car, what will it be?

    Steve,

I have pretty much the same specs in mind for my next car. I looked and sat in a V6 G8. I was disappointed with the interior. Also, the exterior did not make me slobber like the CTS does. I think that car is a step down from the CTS. When press releases started coming out about it a while ago, they made me think that it might be my next car. My initial reaction wasn't as great as my fantasy was. It is a good choice if you fall in love with it. Nice price and performance.

I wish Cadillac would offer a nice "mellow" small block (like the GXP engine or base Vette) that would offer more power than the DI 3.6, less than the V, and reasonably priced. That would really fit our desires. The new V is too over the top. Not that I wouldn't want it that way, but it is just too pricey.

    Dan

I agree with whoever said Lexus. Think about stepping into an IS-F. Wow. Cadillacs do seem to have quiet a few problems. That pontiac looks good. You usually get a lot for your money there. My mom just got a 2008 Grand Prix with 25000 miles for $12,000 and put leather in it for $1,000 and its really nice overall.
