    Battery Help!

Soooo my battery is shot. I can't have my radio on more then 5 mintues without the engine running or the battery dies. I figure no problem, I'll just pick up a new one today. WELL, None of the auto shops around here carry our battery. They all say go to the dealership. WTF? Is this true? Anyone know about how much Im gonna have to spend??

I just used a Super Start Part# 75-72. Its almost the same size and can be bought at any o'reillys. Measure your battery, and find the closest comparable sized one without going larger at your local parts store, get one that has the posts on the side and save yourself the time and money of going to the dealership.

Not really. What you need is a size 101, which no after market parts store carries, not even Sears. I bought a size 101 AC Delco 6 yr at a local parts distributor store for $95 and installed it myself. Simple swap.

I installed the Sears Die-hard Gold for about $100. Some other folks on this forum said Walmart has one that will fit as well. Be sure you get one around 800 CCA or more.

    Re: Battery Help!

I had the same thing happen 2 months ago. I don't know why Cadillac has to reinvent the wheel when it comes to a battery. They could have used a standard size battery just as easily as the "special sized" one they did.
I ended up getting one thru the dealership @ $140.00. What a RIP!
To add insult to injury, I just noticed today that my 3rd brake light has crapped out. Now I get to spend $400.00 to replace it, if they ever get the plant cranked up in China. Again, $400.00 compared to a $1.00 light bulb.
I'm sure glad I'm rich and can afford to drive this "Luxury" vehicle.

Like Sammy Z, I just used a group 78 battery that I got from Checker Auto. It is a tight fit, because the height is close, but it works. It was not hard to remove and install.
