I am installing a Pioneer Avic-F90BT and need to know where the VSS cable is located so I can hook up my Navigation to it any idea?

Here is my car just in case some of you remember me.

It's behind the steering column. Gotta pop out the gauge cluster (a real bitch) and tap into the BROWN WIRE.

So take of the plastic on top of the streering wheel then the one right before the guage cluster? Then I have to pull out the whole guage cluster?

Yep. You'll then be able to access those wires. Might even need to cut away some of the black rubber protecting the mass of wires. I had to.

Re: Installing Aftermarket Navigation VSS Cable?????

Ok guys I tapped into the brown wire. Hopefully I got the correct one. There were 2 brown wires. One had a white stripe on it though. So I tapped into the solid brown. Hopefully I hit the right one. How can I test to see if its the right one? When I hook it up to a multi meter should the volts very when I rev the engine? Thanks.

If you turn on the nav and start driving, you will know if something is wrong...

Re: Installing Aftermarket Navigation VSS Cable?????

Hey sorry to revive an old thread but i cant PM. I wrote the following to sdmarine guy.

Hi, i saw a post of yours from a while back where you said you were putting an avic in your cts. I wanted to get this nav but have never installed one before and dont know what i need in order for it to fit. Could you please let me know what i need in order to make the avic-f90bt fit in my 06 cts. Thanks.

Re: Installing Aftermarket Navigation VSS Cable?????

How are you looking to install the navi? I know of two ways. One is the easiest, but you'll lose your dic. Which is to buy an aftermarket radio kit. The other way is alot harder. Which intails raki g out the factory radio and cutting the face to fit the navi. You can find more details on cadillacfaq.com. I would give you the exact link, but I'm on an iPod at work.

Re: Installing Aftermarket Navigation VSS Cable?????

Cool thanks for the info ill go check that link out. I was hoping i could replace the current cd changer/stereo setup so that the screen was on the dash where the stereo interface normally is.

Re: Installing Aftermarket Navigation VSS Cable?????

I have an easier solution. Pop the panel off the end of the dash on the passenger side. There is a large black connector there. Tap into Pin 7 of that connector.

Re: Installing Aftermarket Navigation VSS Cable?????

Sorry got jumbled up in the posting i have like 5 different forums of differnt topics running at the same time. So whats a dic? That kinda sounds like the option i want. I dont care about the current radio. I bought an avic f90bt and just want it to replace my current radio. But i would like to be able to have satellite radio, as well as the nav and pretty much all the capabilities its got including a rear view camera i bought for it, cuz not that I'm one to judge but i cant see over the hump when i look back through the rear window in my 06 cts.

Re: Installing Aftermarket Navigation VSS Cable?????

The DIC is Drivers Information Center, which is on the factory radio's display. Take a look at this install.
