    Exclamation Brake light trouble

I have a 2005 CTS and both the left & right brake lights do not work. The center/trunk lid light works though. I have replaced the bulbs and the parking lamps work fine. All fuses appear to be ok...what else could be the problem?

There is no power on the white wires entering the light sockets. They worked when I purchased the car and I have never replaced them.

    Re: Brake light trouble

I can't figure out why the 2 rear side brake lights don't work. All fuses are good and the bulbs have been replaced. Anyone have any ideas? How do I check the switch and where is it located?

I had this same issue. I went to dealer under warranty and what happened was the light housing actually leaked moisture and the harness got burnt up. They had to replace some harness and the light housing.

I think that if the center light is working, the switch is working.

you may need to use a volt meter and check to see if any power is getting to the wires at all by the outlet, wedge something on the brake peddle so the light SHOULD be on
