Cadillac CTS First Generation Forum - 2003 - 2007 Discussion, Replacement Navigation buttons in Cadillac CTS Coupe, Sport Sedan and Sport Wagon Forums; Does anybody know where to buy replacement buttons and knobs for a Navigation unit?...
Luke can get buttons for you.
If you need info I can talk you through replacing the buttons.
I have been meaning to take some photos and make a thread somewhere, never did it and now I am out of photo space. I can use my photobucket if I have to.
Too bad you didn't ask this a week ago, I think we did 3 last week.
for those of you who need another alternative for replacement buttons... look up "replacement buttons navigation" on ebay.
i just purchased some for a 2004 escalade for around 80 dollars. yeah kinda high for plastic buttons but if youre out of warranty , its ALOT better than replacing the whole navigation system. ( which they did for me once already )
oh yeah .. if youre going to take the navigation system out yourself. BE CAREFUL!! its VERY time consuming for first timers and alot harder than it looks. there are gaskets, rubber fittings, and a whole exposed circuit board that you have to work around. my suggestion, purchase a tiny set of tools if you can. i learned the hard way. i used a set of needle nose pliars and a flat head screw driver and it took me about 2 hours. then again.. I am a girl . i think i put the new buttons in the face plate 4 or 5 times before i finally got it put back together right. PAY ATTENTION TO THE DISASSEMBLY PROCESS!!! dont forget where each peice goes. and when you pull the cover plate off the navigation system to get to the old buttons, either hold it horizontal ( screen facing the floor ) or hold it over a towel so you can catch all the peices that are going to fall out.
good luck. although replacing the buttons tested my patience to the extreme ( i seriously at one point wanted to run both of my fists thru the front windsheild a couple of times, the finished product looks like brand new and with the help of st. jude ( the patron saint for the impossible ) believe it or not, everything worked when i plugged it all back in.
oh yeah .. dont let that white tape that attaches the front circuit board of the navigation system to the main box scare you. loosen up the little plastic peice on the circuit board by pulling it out a bit with some tweezers on both ends and the tape will fall out. put it back the same way CAREFULLY.
ok people .. have fun and enjoy the look of those new buttons. and ladies, remember to watch the fingernails.. use the cushion of your fingertips or your knuckles from now on.
