2004 CTS Passenger Rear Window

Remove this ad
I have a 2004 CTS that has been a great car. The other day while giving someone a ride who sat in the passenger rear seat, they tried to put the power window down. The window would'nt move until we hear a THUMP, and then it would only go down. Now its off the track and totally loose as if it's not in the track or not attached to the regulator anymore. I can lift the glass up to the top but it falls right down if let go. I know I need to take the interior trim off and get into it, but I was wondering if anyone has any helpful hints or diagrams that give me a clue to the best way to take the trim apart and perhaps some info. about the regulator. Are they mechanical arm regulators or cable? Any one ever had to take one of these windows apart?

Big Dave

Re: 2004 CTS Passenger Rear Window

I had a similar problem and when I took of the interior panel I found a plastic piece that was broken and the wire was all kinked up. To buy the new part is expensive. The reason I am telling you this is because I thought my window just came out of place but it didnt.

Hey thanks - any pointers on removing the trim panel?

The panel is pretty easy to take off. It has two screws in the middle there is a little plate that comes off, unscrew those and then you can just work your way around poping off the the panel. oh yeah make sure you unlock your door and pull off the the piece on the door that shows your door is unlocked.

Re: 2004 CTS Passenger Rear Window

Hey thanks! You just never know what your going to get into with stuff like this. I appreciate the reply. I hope to be able to see in there and determine if I have to buy one of those regulator mechanisms or if I can fix the one I have. Hopfully the interior steel will allow you to see in there as I've never worked on this car.
