I like the idea of replacing the stock mufflers with flowmasters. My big beef is the stock mufflers. They look retarded. My friend replaced his stock mufflers on his LS400 with flowmasters. It is close to the same setup that we have, except the mufflers do not show as much. It looks awesome now. I'm going to change mine someday. But I've got to get some other projects done first.

Re: 3.6 Exhaust Questions

hmm.. i cant really see the muffler, just the tips, which look great

here are some pics i just went outside and snapped of them..keep in mind, its 10:30PM and i'm using my phone to snap the pics...
*edit*
pics

.. i think they're 3 1/2" in diameter ... better than the stock look & no need to spend a couple hundred bucks. anyway, its an option.

Re: 3.6 Exhaust Questions

To those of you thinking of updating your 3.6l exhaust (2" tube) to a CTS-V exhaust (2.5" tube), this is NOT a bolt up replacement as previously noted by fellow posters. The flanges are simply NOT the same. Unless you are a welder, this is not going to be a DIY job. However, it is an easy job to do on the 3.6l and any good muffler shop will be able to do this job in about an hour to an hour and a half.

Simply cut the CTS-V pipes in front of the resonator that attach to the cats. Cut the 3.6l pipes at the same spot. Weld in a transition pipe to the CTS-V pipes at the resonator or if you do not care to keep the CTS-V resonator, have the muffler shop weld straight pipes or an X-Pipe at the same spot. The rest of the system hangs right in place with the 3.6l exhaust oem hangers. You need not purchase anything else. You will probably need to have the hangers heated and bent down a little bit in order to avoid the pipes touching the cutouts in the bumper. Cost me about $100.

Cheers!
