What are some good things to take a look at when I hit 50k?? Im currently at 48 and some change, and want to start getting things together. I would like to convert to full synthetic motor oil for sure, and change the transmission fluid (5 speed manual). I was looking at Redline Transmission Fluid - but not sure of how much or what kind to buy.

http://www.redlineoil.com/products_g...p?categoryID=7

is this a good brand?

also what are your thoughts on synthetic motor oil? whats the best brand/weight to go with - any special considerations to make when doing the switch or is it just like a standard oil change?

what else should i change/look at when i hit 50k??

thanks in advance guys.

Re: 3.2L 50k Service

I've been using synthetic since the first oil change on my 3.2. Mobil 1 5W30 for me, changed when the oil life indicator hits about 20% (normally about 7K miles).

I haven't switched to synthetic in the trans or rear end, but I did have the transmission and differential seals replaced under warranty, which required removal. I presume they drained and refilled them.

I'll need to check the Helm manual, but the manual trans may take ATF, similar to a T5 manual trans, and not manual trans gear lube. Just make sure you get the right stuff!

Thanks man let me know what you find out - also is there a shop manual for the CTS? if so where could i pick one up?

oh and finnally when you changed your oil and switched to synthetic did you have to do anything special for the change or just your regular oil change - drain the old - change the filter - refill the system?

Re: 3.2L 50k Service

Just drain, change the filter, and refill. The Factory shop manual is sold by Helm. Its $135, but well worth it (Two encyclopedia sized volumes).
